I was sitting in the mini van and looking outside from the window with my half closed eyes, the car went all the way up and up, I could not see anything but just trees and tress. All of a sudden the driver stopped the car, I felt like we were at the middle of no where, he spoke to the tour guide that sound “Here?” “Then?” ( I could read his lips even though it was in Turkish. :P). After a few seconds, tour guide told us “We are here”. Later I found out why the driver and the guide were a bit lost , it was their first time there! My guide has been guiding all around Turkey for more than 10 years though. He said this place is just too difficult to be booked especially for big tourist group. I smiled at heart, YES! This is kind of hidden gem I was expecting. I found Nisanyan on internet by chance and my eyes were caught by its Greek style cottage, look very primitive at the outside while very cozy inside. The hotel is located 15 mins away by foot up hill from the center of Sirince village. Don’t think about reaching it by walk with all your baggages, the path is pretty steep!
Surrounded by olive groves, peach orchards and vineyards, this place is just too picturesque. The entire guesthouse consists of a total of 20 units. They all vary in size, decoration and style. I stayed in a cottage in a beautiful garden, it is set behind the Inn in a hidden valley which is untouched by anything modern. The inner deco gives you a historical while cozy atmosphere, they used only natural material for example stone and ancient timber. Upon getting in the room , you will immediately feel leaving behind the hustle and bustle from the city. Sitting on the vintage bench in front of the room is enjoyable at night with sounds of insects and in the morning with the sunshine.
Breakfast is served on the terrace nearby the cottage. Whats better than starting a day by having a slow breakfast with made to order food ? This is also a common area where you can meet other hotel guests, enjoy the local fruit wine and have a nice cultural exchange chat.
After breakfast, I walked around, I felt like I was living in a zoo! 🙂 No no, I should describe in a more elegant way, I was like being turned into part of the nature, be it rabbit or bird, I walked out from my cottage, say Hi with my friends as passing by, peacock , goat, dog, pigeon …..
After a refreshing walk, I found another paradise! Just 10 steps away from my cottage, I went down a bit towards a cluster of bush, I found a swimming pool !! OMG, I wish I could stay here longer.
Mujde, the founder and host of Nisanyan Hotel, if I remember correctly, she is from Austria , a nice woman who can cook! She also conduct cooking workshop. Can you imagine having home made dishes on this cozy terrance with awesome view?
Sirince is a village nestled on the hills in Central Aegean Region, Turkey. It is a small village which is famous for its fruit wine and olives. Sirince was a Greek village before the Greco-Turkish War. Today it is very popular as a getaway destination for Turkish tourists, but not yet Asian, in my understanding. The nearest well known point of interest is the Ephesus ancient Greek city.
special thanks to my roommate , she is a good model
